We're an independent, family-run UK beauty retailer and salon based in Southwick, West Sussex. Since opening our online store in 2005, we've been helping customers find professional skincare, haircare, makeup, nail care and wellbeing products from brands we know and trust.

Our Story: How It All Began

John And Ginger was founded by husband-and-wife team John and Alex. John came from a background as an international fitness instructor, while Alex has worked as a beauty therapist since 1995. Both shared a passion for health, beauty, wellbeing and helping people feel good about themselves.

When we started selling online in 2005, we wanted to bring professional beauty products and trusted skincare advice to customers beyond our salon, without losing the personal connection that makes shopping with an independent business special.

More than 20 years later, that remains at the heart of what we do. We're still a family business, and we believe that friendly advice, genuine product knowledge and good customer care matter just as much as the products we sell.

Alex carefully selects our beauty brands, drawing on her experience as a therapist and her knowledge of professional skincare. From established skincare ranges to haircare, makeup, nail products and aromatherapy, we choose products because we believe in their quality and suitability for our customers, rather than simply following the latest trends.

We take pride in preparing your orders with care and, where available, including complimentary samples so you can try something new.

John And Ginger is more than an online shop. We also have a professional beauty salon and skin treatment centre in Southwick, near Brighton, where we work directly with clients and their skincare concerns.

As a Dermalogica Expert Treatment Centre, we offer personalised skin treatments, professional peels and advanced treatments including microneedling. Our salon also provides a range of beauty services, including waxing, brow and lash treatments, manicures and pedicures.

Having a working salon means our skincare knowledge comes from practical experience as well as professional training and ongoing education.
