Purity of nature
A fascinating array of natural plant extracts, essential oils and naturally occurring vitamins are sourced from around the world and used in PureLogicol products. Many of them, like Aloe Vera and Witch Hazel, have been known for thousands of years for their skincare properties. Others are much more recent discoveries. We've included information about active ingredients for all the products in our PureLogicol skincare collection.
Natural ingredients from across the globe
Here are a few examples of the pure, gentle ingredients we select for our products. For full details of active ingredients, see the PureLogicol product range.
Irish moss extract
Irish moss is found on the Atlantic coast of both Europe and North America. The plant has nearly 10% of protein and about 15% of mineral matter, and is rich in iodine and sulphur. The extract deeply moisturises to soothe and protect the skin’s epidermal layer. It treats even the most unmanageable skin problems, including eczema, psoriasis, rashes and sunburns. It also nourishes and protects the skin from environmental elements.
Acai
Native to Central and South America, this small, purple berry contains potent antioxidants and Omega 6 & 9 fatty acids which promote a youthful appearance.
Dragon fruit
Native to Mexico, Central and South America, this fruit is rich in vitamins, minerals, phytoalbumins and phenolics. It has nourishing and wound healing properties.
Edelweiss
A symbol of purity, this plant is native to the alpine regions of Europe. It offers anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antioxidant benefits.
Borage seed oil
These small, blue flowers are also known as the starflower plant and are found in many countries around the world. Borage oil contains one of the highest amounts of omega fatty acids found in plants. The essential fatty acids nourish, hydrate and moisturise the skin.
PureLogicol products are free from parabens, alcohol, artificial colours and artificial perfumes. None of them have been tested on animals.

Logic of science
Every aspect of the PureLogicol product range is based on scientific excellence. High quality research and development underpin the effectiveness of products; cutting-edge active ingredients have undergone extensive development and testing to prove their value.
A number of key active scientific ingredients feature in our products.
Collagen
Understanding the role of collagen for skin health is at the heart of our approach, with clinical trials to prove the effectiveness of the Collagen Peptide Skin Supplement. It's produced using the highest available grade of collagen to ensure its purity and effectiveness.
Peptides
A variety of peptides have been shown in clinical testing to have anti-ageing properties due to their role as messengers for cellular activity. In essence, peptides tell cells what to do. For example, certain peptides help to prompt the synthesis of skin collagen.
Hyaluronic acid
One of the chief components of the extra-cellular matrix surrounding cells, Hyaluronic Acid is frequently called “The Key to the Fountain of Youth” because it draws in moisture like a sponge to plump skin and diminish the appearance of wrinkles.
Nano-vitamins F, A, C and E
Nano-vitamins are made from natural phospholipids, they have superior absorption properties which improve their efficacy.

Collagen peptide science Q&A
Q. What is collagen?
A. Collagen accounts for up to 30% of the protein in the human body. Beneath the skin's surface fibroblasts produce collagen, the triple helix structural protein which is responsible for binding the cells together. It makes up 75 – 80% of the skin, and it's one of the skin's primary components.
Q. How is collagen connected with ageing?
A. The appearance of your skin is directly related to the way your skin is supported. Wrinkles form when the natural collagen and hyaluronic acid in your skin diminish during the natural ageing process. Ageing is caused by both internal and external ageing factors. After the age of 25, the body starts to deplete collagen at a rate of 1.5% every year. This process continues to speed up into your 30’s and 40’s with a rapid depletion of collagen from 50+ years; this can result in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and loss of skin elasticity. External ageing factors such as sun exposure account for up to 90% of skin damage. The sun causes DNA damage and breaks down the collagen. Other external factors that cause ageing are environment, temperature, gravity, repetitive facial movements and lifestyle.
Q. Why take a collagen supplement?
A. A collagen supplement can help counteract the effects of collagen depletion by stimulating fibroblast activity to produce new collagen.
Q. How do I know that PureLogicol collagen supplement is effective?
A. PureLogicol’s Collagen Peptide Skin Supplement has been subjected to rigorous clinical testing. A double-blind placebo controlled 6 weeks study demonstrated an improvement in skin wrinkle scores and skin moisture content as well as skin porosity compared to the placebo group. The clinical trials were carried out by Dr Riekie Smit; University of Pretoria, Department of Pharmacology Promoter: Prof JR Snyman. (Published SADR VOLUME 9 No.3 2009). Read the report of the clinical trial.
Q. How do Collagen Peptides work?
A. Collagen Peptides are low-molecular, bioavailable collagen which are broken down by the body into small collagen peptides. Around 15% absorb in their intact form; the rest are broken down into amino acids which also assist in the production of collagen. The absorbable short-chained collagen peptides stimulate fibroblast activity to produce collagen and proteoglycans which are major components of the skin.
Q. What makes PureLogicol unique from other collagen supplements?
A. PureLogicol's supplement contains a pure, high quality collagen. It has been clinically proven to reduce wrinkles, decrease pores and increase skin moisture. The product’s unique enzymatic process breaks down the collagen molecules which are bioavailable (meaning they are readily absorbed by the body). PureLogicol is blister packed to pharmaceutical standards to ensure safety and product freshness.
Q. Are there any side effects or contraindications?
A. There are no known side effects or contraindications.
Q. Can I increase my daily dosage?
A. Yes, you can increase the dosage to 6 capsules per day. Increasing the dosage further may offer added benefits.
Q. How long will it take before I see results?
A. PureLogicol is a progressive program and results will vary from person to person. Users have reported beneficial results within the first 4 weeks. This depends on the individual’s age, weight and metabolic rate. For optimum results, use for three months. To maintain on-going benefits, continue at the same dosage.
Q. What if I can't swallow capsules?
A. You can break open the capsules and pour into water or orange juice, stir until dissolved.
Q. Does taking collagen cause weight gain or increase appetite?
A. No.
UV Damage to Your Skin
UVA Radiation
UVA was once thought to have a minor effect on skin damage, but now studies are showing that UVA is a major contributor to skin damage. UVA penetrates deeper into the skin and works more efficiently. The intensity of UVA radiation is more constant than UVB without the variations during the day and throughout the year.
Damaging Effects of UVA and UVB
Both UVA and UVB radiation can cause skin damage including wrinkles, lowered immunity against infection, ageing skin disorders, and cancer. However, we still do not fully understand the process. Some of the possible mechanisms for UV skin damage are collagen breakdown, the formation of free radicals, interfering with DNA repair, and inhibiting the immune system.
Collagen Breakdown
In the dermis, UV radiation causes collagen to break down at a higher rate than with just chronologic ageing. Sunlight damages collagen fibres and causes the accumulation of abnormal elastin. When this sun-induced elastin accumulates, enzymes called metalloproteinases metalloproteinases are produced in large quantities. Normally, metalloproteinases remodel sun-injured skin by manufacturing and reforming collagen. However, this process does not always work well and some of the metalloproteinases actually break down collagen. This results in the formation of disorganized collagen fibers known as solar scars. When the skin repeats this imperfect rebuilding process over and over wrinkles develop.
Free Radicals
UV radiation is one of the major creators of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that have only one electron instead of two. Because electrons are found in pairs, the molecule must scavenge other molecules for another electron. When the second molecule looses its electron to the first molecule, it must then find another electron repeating the process. This process can damage cell function and alter genetic material. Free radical damage causes wrinkles by activating the metalloproteinases that break down collagen. They cause cancer by changing the genetic material, RNA and DNA, of the cell.
DNA Repair
UV radiation can affect enzymes that help repair damaged DNA.
Immune System Effects
The body has a defense system to attack developing cancer cells. These immune system factors include white blood cells called T lymphocytes and specialized skin cells in the dermis called Langerhans cells. When the skin is exposed to sunlight, certain chemicals are released that suppress these immune factors.
