Tisserand Aromatherapy Melissa Ethically Harvested Essential Oil 9ml in a longer lasting bigger bottle. 100% Melissa officinalis (balm mint) leaf oil - Melissa officinalis. Named after the Greek word for ‘honey’ the flowers of the plant are packed full of bee attracting nectar and gives off a sweet, lemony fragrance. It is extensively used in cosmetic balms and preparations, Melissa is otherwise known as ‘lemon balm’ or ‘common balm’.

Steam distillation of the leaves releases a unique sweet, citrus oil which is ideal in preparations to stabilise the mood and soothe fraught emotions. It takes a vast amount of leaves to produce the smallest amount of essential oil, so it is best used sparingly in aromatherapy blends. Used in a diffuser, Melissa will help to ease the spirit and help relieve symptoms of shock and anxiety.

Ethically Harvested denotes sustainable cultivation. An ethically harvested essential oil is derived from a herb, shrub or tree that is not harvested so aggressively that the species becomes depleted. As far as aromatic plants are concerned, species depletion is only rarely a problem with herbs (which are mostly easy to grow in quantity) but tends to be more of an issue with slow-growing trees.
