Which Dermalogica Serum is Right for Me?
A serum adds concentrated, targeted care to your skincare routine, but the best choice depends on what you would most like to improve. Your main concern may be dehydration, dullness, uneven pigmentation, adult breakouts, loss of firmness, visible lines or changes in facial contours.
It is also worth considering texture and how you prefer to use your skincare. Some formulas are light and water-based, while others have a more nourishing or oil-based finish. Most can be used morning and evening, but targeted formulas such as retinol need to be introduced gradually and used at night.

Serums for hydration, brightness and uneven tone
Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum
This lightweight hydrating serum is the clearest choice when dehydration is your main concern. It helps replenish moisture, reduce the feeling of tightness and leave the complexion looking smoother, more supple and radiant without the weight of a rich cream.
The fluid texture is suited to every skin type, including oily or combination skin that feels dehydrated underneath. Use it morning and evening after toner and before moisturiser. Applying it while the skin is still slightly damp from toner can help create a fresh, dewy finish.
Choose this over Pro-Collagen Banking Serum when you primarily want hydration rather than targeted firming care. Choose Pro-Collagen Banking Serum when dehydration is accompanied by early lines or a noticeable loss of bounce.
Dermalogica Biolumin-C Vitamin C Serum 30ml
This lightweight vitamin C serum is suited to skin that looks dull, tired or uneven and would benefit from greater radiance. It also helps improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture and loss of firmness, making it a useful all-round choice when brightness and early visible ageing are both concerns.
The formula has a light serum texture that absorbs easily and leaves the skin looking fresh rather than oily. Smooth a full dropper over the face and neck morning and evening after toner and before moisturiser. Always finish your morning routine with sunscreen.
Choose this when you want overall brightness, luminosity and antioxidant support. When individual dark spots or more persistent uneven pigmentation are your main concern, Powerbright Dark Spot Serum offers a more focused approach.
Dermalogica Powerbright Dark Spot Serum 30ml
This targeted daily serum is made for skin affected by visible dark spots, uneven pigmentation and a lack of clarity. It helps improve the appearance of existing discolouration over time while supporting a brighter, more even-looking finish.
Apply one pump over the face and neck each morning after cleansing and toning. Allow it to absorb for around one minute before applying moisturiser and a broad-spectrum SPF. Daily sun protection is particularly important when uneven pigmentation is a concern.
Choose this over Biolumin-C Vitamin C Serum when dark spots are the priority. Biolumin-C is more suited to general dullness, radiance, fine lines and firmness, while Powerbright gives the routine a more specific pigmentation focus.
Serum for adult breakouts and post-blemish marks
Dermalogica Age Bright Clearing Serum 30ml
This light, water-like serum is formulated for adult skin that experiences breakouts alongside dullness, uneven tone or early visible signs of ageing. Salicylic acid helps clear congested skin, while niacinamide and supporting ingredients help improve the appearance of post-blemish marks and uneven tone.
Apply a thin layer over clean skin and allow it to dry before moisturising. It can be used across the face or applied to individual blemishes once or twice daily as needed. If your skin is new to salicylic acid or is easily sensitised, begin more slowly and monitor how it responds.
Choose this instead of Powerbright Dark Spot Serum when active adult breakouts and congestion are part of the concern. When the skin is clear but dark spots or uneven pigmentation remain the main priority, Powerbright may be more suitable.
Serums for firmness and visible signs of ageing
Dermalogica Pro-Collagen Banking Serum 30ml
This lightweight gel-to-serum is a good starting point when the skin is beginning to look less springy, less luminous or more dehydrated. It helps support the skin's existing collagen, maintain resilience and leave the complexion looking smoother, plumper and comfortably hydrated.
Apply two to three pumps to clean, dry skin once or twice daily, followed by moisturiser. Its quick-absorbing texture layers neatly under SPF and make-up without feeling heavy.
Choose this when you want to support firmness before more noticeable signs of ageing develop. Futurecode Booster has a broader focus on skin longevity, rough texture and visible environmental stress, while Phyto Nature Firming Serum is better suited to more established loss of firmness and visible wrinkles.
Dermalogica Futurecode Booster 30ml
This adaptable booster is suited to skin that looks tired, rough, uneven, less firm or affected by accumulated environmental stress. Rather than focusing on one visible concern alone, it supports the skin's natural renewal processes, resilience and long-term healthy appearance.
The lightweight texture can be applied directly to clean skin or mixed with another serum or moisturiser. Use one dose over the face and neck morning and evening. It can also be paired with Biolumin-C Vitamin C Serum when brightness is a priority or added to a simple moisturising routine when you want targeted care without replacing every product.
Choose this when you want a flexible skin longevity product that fits around your existing routine. Pro-Collagen Banking Serum is more specifically focused on preserving collagen, hydration and plumpness, while Phyto Nature Firming Serum gives more intensive firming care.
Dermalogica Phyto Nature Firming Serum 40ml
This dual-phase serum is suited to skin showing more noticeable loss of firmness, visible lines, dullness or reduced elasticity. Two formulas dispense together and combine plant-derived ingredients with peptide technology to help skin look firmer, smoother and more luminous.
The blend of oil and water phases gives it a more nourishing, dewy feel than the lighter gel and water-based serums in this guide. Hold the bottle upright, dispense one or two pumps, blend the two phases between your hands and smooth over the face and neck. Use morning, evening or both, followed by moisturiser.
Choose this when firming is your main priority and you prefer a more nourishing texture. Pro-Collagen Banking Serum is lighter and well suited to earlier changes, while Neurotouch Symmetry Serum focuses more on facial massage and the appearance of individual contours.
Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Retinol Serum 30ml
This high-strength evening serum is suited to visible wrinkles, uneven texture, enlarged-looking pores, dark marks and uneven tone. Its multi-retinoid complex supports skin renewal, while squalane helps maintain comfort and support the moisture barrier.
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin at night, avoiding the eye area and lips, then follow with moisturiser. If you are new to retinoids, begin twice a week for two weeks, increase to alternate nights for a further two weeks, then progress towards nightly use only if your skin remains comfortable. Use a broad-spectrum SPF every morning.
This is the most active renewal-focused serum in the guide. Choose Pro-Collagen Banking Serum or Circular Hydration Serum if your skin is very dry, reactive or not ready for retinol. Retinoid products should not be used during pregnancy. Ask a healthcare professional for advice before using retinoids while breastfeeding.
Dermalogica Neurotouch Symmetry Serum 30ml
This silky, oil-based facial serum is suited to anyone who enjoys massage as part of their routine and wants the jawline, cheeks and overall facial contours to look more defined. Its nourishing oils and squalane also help support softness, moisture and skin resilience.
Shake the bottle before use, apply four to six drops to the face and neck, then massage using slow, firm upward strokes. Use morning and evening before moisturiser. Its lightweight facial-oil finish is more nourishing than a water-based serum but should not feel like a heavy facial oil when used sparingly.
Choose this when facial sculpting, massage and a sensorial routine are important to you. Choose Phyto Nature Firming Serum when your main concern is more generalised firmness, visible wrinkles and luminosity rather than the appearance of individual facial contours.
A targeted serum for the neck, chest and body
Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Sculptor Toning Body Serum 150ml
This lightweight body serum is a particularly useful choice for the neck, chest and décolleté, where crepey texture, dehydration and loss of firmness can become more noticeable. It can also be applied to the arms, thighs, abdomen and other body areas where you would like the skin to look smoother and more toned.
Although it works well as a targeted serum for the neck and chest, it is formulated for body use rather than as a facial serum. Massage it into clean skin using firm upward strokes morning and evening. Follow with body moisturiser when extra nourishment is needed and apply SPF to exposed areas during the day.
Choose this alongside your facial serum when you want to continue a firming routine below the jawline. Its light texture makes it easier to layer than a rich body cream while still supporting hydration and a smoother-looking finish.
Where does serum fit into a skincare routine?
Apply your serum after cleansing and toning but before moisturiser. In the morning, finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. At night, follow your serum with the moisturiser best suited to your skin.
You do not need to use several serums at once. Choosing one formula for your main concern is often the simplest place to begin. When using more than one, a practical approach is to use one in the morning and another in the evening, or to apply a light water-based serum before a more nourishing oil-based formula.
Introduce active products one at a time so you can judge how your skin responds. This is especially important with retinoids, salicylic acid and other concentrated formulas. Reduce the frequency if the skin becomes persistently uncomfortable and seek personalised advice if you are unsure which products can be used together.
Still unsure which serum to choose?
Think first about the concern that matters most to you rather than choosing by age alone. Dehydration, uneven tone, breakouts, firmness and texture can occur at many different stages of life, and your serum should support what your skin needs now.
