SELF TANNING TANNING TIPS
ARMS And HANDS
Arms - Starting at the shoulder, tan your arm, the edge of your shoulder, and as far around the back of your shoulder as you can reach. Make sure to tan the side of the body/breast, under the back of the arm and lightly around the armpit. Tan the rest of the arm using one pump of product at a time, blending around the wrist to about 2mm away from the heel of the hand. Now, with what is left on the mitt, apply to the back of the hands. Always wipe your elbow with a slightly damp cloth after tanning as this area can look overly dark.
Hands - When applying to the hands keep the fingers closed to avoid tanning between them (this would look very unnatural). Work away from the nails toward the back of the hand to avoid staining the nail bed. Now open the fingers and gently blend the side of each finger in turn. Wipe the knuckles and nails with a slightly damp cloth to remove any excess product for a superbly natural finish.
LOWER LEGS and FEET
Lower Legs - Start at the front of the ankle and use one pump at a time, applying in large elongated circular movements. Ensure to tan the back of the leg as well as the front! When blending around the ankle avoid the very tough skin, ensure that you have blended across the back of the leg and not in a V shape (a total tell-tale fake tan line). Wipe and blend the ankle with a dry cloth. While tanning the lower leg also tan the feet using the residue on the mitt employing the same principle as for the hands.
Feet - For perfect ‘beach feet’, firstly imagine you have been on a beach holiday for 2 weeks. The sun will only hit the tops of your feet, and the bottom half of the sides will remain untanned. Apply your tan with this thought in mind, blending halfway down the sides and then wiping the blend with a dry cloth to give a totally natural finish. Always work away from the nail bed, back up the foot and blend at the ankle.
Upper Legs and Body
Tan around the back of the knee, and lightly across the front of the knee. Take care to ensure that all areas are covered in product. Bend knee when tanning. For the thigh you may want to use two or three pumps at a time. Using the same sweeping movements, take tan all over thigh and buttocks. Continue across abdomen and back, finishing with chest and décolleté blending the body tan at the base of the neck and across the shoulders back towards your arms.
Neck and Face
Apply liberally as you would a moisturiser on face and neck blending down to décolleté. Wipe upper lip and eyebrows with a dry towel to ensure they are not overly dark.
