Myth 1: A blackhead is actually dirt inside the pore.

Regardless of skin condition moisturisers are vital to every skin care routine.

An oily skin can be dehydrated, and will need hydration from a moisturiser. When your skin is dehydrated it is due to lack of water within the skin’s layers, not lack of oil.

In dehydrated skin activity of oil glands can still be normal, or even over active. Quite often if a skin is dehydrated then it can lead the skin to produce more oil.

Over the next week I will be covering many questions that I get asked about acne and breakouts.Dispelling some of the myths surrounding this topic, and also giving advice about how you can treat your skin condition at home with Dermalogica products, achieving great results.

Q: What’s causing my breakouts?

A: There are many causes behind the formation of breakouts.

Stress, excess oil, excess skin cells, bacteria, hormonal fluctuations, and genetics are all factors that can contribute to acne.

However, this isn’t always affordable or convenient and many people with acne and breakouts can often feel embarrassed about their skin condition, and feel uncomfortable having it examined by anyone other than a doctor.
