Widely regarded as the person who reintroduced the concept of aromatherapy, Robert has had many years experience in creating blends - from these our products are given life.

Tisserand products contain only certified vegan ingredients and are registered by the Vegan Society. Robert is strictly against the use of animal testing or inclusion of animal bi-products, such as beeswax, so we will always use a vegetable alternative.

At Tisserand Aromatherapy we are able, as brand leader, to buy essential oils in large quantities. This allows us to be very discriminating with our suppliers in a way that smaller companies cannot compete. Our turnover is so fast that oils are never in stock for long periods of time and this is obviously of benefit to you, the customer.

We are proud that our ingredient declarations are honest and complete. Robert Tisserand is constantly monitoring ingredient research and we will not use any ingredients that in his opinion are unsound, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, mineral oil, triclosan, BHA or aluminum compounds.

All of our fragrances come from 100% natural plant derived oils; we do not use synthetic aroma-chemicals. We are continually seeking the purest essential oils from around the world and these are included in our products at meaningful levels, as are plant extracts which are mostly organic.

'NO' to SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES - We only ever use pure essential oils and absolutes. Directly derived from plants, they are entirely natural and deliver their own unique therapeutic and aromatic properties.

'NO' to SLS/SLES - We use alternative cleansing and foaming agents, such as ALS, which is derived from coconut oil and free from petrochemicals, to deliver mild foam that is kind to the skin.

'NO' to PARABENS - The alternatives that we use (chlorphenesin, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, to name a few) are just as effective in terms of microbiological/challenge testing, but are often milder to the skin.

'NO' to ANIMAL INGREDIENTS - We do not use animal derived ingredients, such as lanolin or beeswax, and our products and ingredients are not tested on animals by us or on our behalf. We are proud to be certified by the Vegan Society.

...AND 'NO' to OTHER INGREDIENTS WE CONSIDER UNSOUND... - Such as phthalates, formaldehyde, petrochemicals (such as mineral oil, paraffin and petrolatum), propylene glycol, aluminium compounds, triclosan, BHA, methyldibromoglutaronitrile, triethanolamine, DMDM hydantoin, diazolidinyl urea and quaternium-15.

Are Tisserand essential oils organic?
Tisserand essential oils are either organic, wild crafted or ethically harvested.

Organic
Certified organic essential oils are derived from plants that have been grown without the use of man-made fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides - instead using ecosystem management methods to maintain the health of both plant and soil. There are no inputs such as genetic modification or irradiation. The benefits of organic agriculture include no pollution of the local air or groundwater and no toxic chemicals in the plant or its essential oil, meanwhile maintaining the viability of the local environment. International standards are set by IFOAM (the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements), which also accredits many certifying bodies, for example the Soil Association or French Ecocert.
